Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
