Fresh Details Surface Concerning the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the shocking deaths of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
The Alarm
A source indicates referencing a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Additionally pushed back against circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
