Information Available Concerning the Those Lost of the Bondi Terror Attack
No fewer than 16 people were killed and in excess of 40 were hurt when attackers shot at a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, an attack local authorities have labeled a act of terrorism.
In the latest update, authorities have stated the number of fatalities remains at 16, encompassing one of the alleged gunmen. Moreover, 42 wounded individuals were taken to the hospital.
The victims are yet to be officially identified, but investigators think their ages are between 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Described as a father-of-five, he was the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and friends described him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very kind and sociable person who loved to help people”.
“How is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a family member remarked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.
She told the moments leading up to the attack, saying they had been standing together when the shooting started. “He pushed his body up because he wished to be near me,” she said.
The pair were both Holocaust survivors, having faced immense hardship in their childhood. They had later moved to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Officially, a senior official said that France shared the grief of his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the message continued.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was rushed to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was also killed during the attack, according to multiple sources referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospitals, a significant number remain under care, with a number in a critical state. The injured comprise two officers who attended the scene.
A wounded man is a bystander who attempted to intervene to confront one of the gunmen. Hailed as a local hero, he received gunshot wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. Reports indicate he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the scene as an “utter carnage,” but also noted the response of those who rushed to help. He said he believed it was a “miracle” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the shooting. He described he listened to “a large number” of shots.
“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I was hit. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
