'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the rebound before charging toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory booked a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including home and away encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
