President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Adjustments

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
