Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest album, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member told me to select Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
