Supporters Urge Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are demanding that a man who leaped a barricade and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed includes videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Several fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another response on Instagram.
Several supporters also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some called for digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, earning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
