The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in the spring of 2026.
"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.
Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the United States into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, transforming the city into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents come in.
Work on the game has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, specifically in North America. Production is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
An early look at the system confirms it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and tactical approach. Players use abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, players select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.
Combat Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight
Fights prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the source material. Factors like cover, height advantage, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This system is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning over raw numbers.
A Novel Health System
The way health is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Operatives have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage reduces their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.
- At critical condition, an operative collapses, but is not unconscious.
- They can still move and perform restricted acts, simulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.
A Ready-to-Play Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
