The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The song features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from later in the month.
